The hijacked buildings in Johannesburg
"I moved here in 2013 to work at a shop here in Berea. It´s a good neighborhood, I like it. One day, two white men came and wanted me out. They threatened me to leave the shop otherwise they would come and burn it all down. They did not want any rent or anything, they just wanted me out. My lawyers said I had to remove my stuff and leave the shop. But I live here – it´s my whole life – I have nothing else. I have nowhere to go." James Aheid – shop owner in one of the hijacked buildings in Berea.
"First time an ex cop called Rasta came with a white man. They told us we had to move out of the building. After that they started to threaten us. And they sometimes they just appear (here) with weapons and start shooting. Every time I leave this place, I leave in fear of never returning."
